Cardano (ADA) Boasts Lowest Inflation Among Major Cryptocurrencies, According to Community
Cardano (ADA), a leading and established proof-of-stake (PoS) cryptocurrency, has reached remarkably low levels of inflation. A community enthusiast explains the implications of this for ADA's economic model and why it has made Cardano a focal point for criticism.
Steady Adoption of a Limited Asset: Cardano (ADA) Community Reacts to 2.5% Inflation Rate
Cardano (ADA), a major proof-of-stake cryptocurrency, has achieved a 2.5% inflation rate over the past year. This is six times lower than Avalanche (AVAX) and four times lower than Polkadot (DOT), according to @cardano_whale, a pseudonymous member of the Cardano community.
Even Ethereum (ETH), one of Cardano’s most prominent competitors, has double the inflation rate of ADA. Bitcoin (BTC), known for its scarcity, has an inflation rate of 0.86% following the 2024 halving. The ADA enthusiast highlighted that if Cardano's inflation were to rise to the levels seen in other coins, it would likely provoke a significant backlash. Imagine if Cardano's inflation hit 15%—it would probably cause a frenzied reaction, with people desperately seeking buyers while shifting their investments to scarcer assets like BTC.
With its combination of widespread adoption, economic sustainability, and low inflation, Cardano (ADA) is positioned as a "sweet spot" in 2024. Additionally, Cardano recently marked a significant reliability milestone, celebrating 2,500 days without network outages on August 2, 2024.

Currently, three DeFi platforms—Minswap, Indigo, and Liqwid—account for more than 50% of this TVL in USD terms.
